The Ask: For this quick turnaround project, our goal was to immerse viewers in a dynamic cellscape and pull them down to the cell surface, setting the stage for molecular players to tell their story. Camera focal lengths were essential to clarify between cellular and molecular levels of magnification. The long focal length for molecular scenes brought viewers up close and personal with proteins and maintaining a sense of vast space, barely noticeable beyond the lens. The tight timeline required the project to be broken up among animators, relying on art direction and color editing to ensure all cuts felt like they were of the same world.
